Better training at home, outdoors or in the gym?
Training is both a physical and mental challenge. For people who practice fitness with the aim of getting back in shape and improving their state of well-being, in addition to the choice of the type of training there is the choice of place: better to exercise at home, in the gym or outdoors? Depending on where you live, your financial means, your social and physical needs, you can find advantages and disadvantages in training in the different three environments. In any case, whether you decide to exercise at home, in the gym or outdoors, it is important to always have the right motivation and continuity. If you don't have a minimum of knowledge of the muscles and movements you need to perform, don't improvise otherwise you risk injury or exercise without achieving the expected results. In case you are entrusted, even if only for advice, to qualified fitness experts. Plan your workouts and don't get discouraged, the right time and strategy will get you the satisfaction you're looking for. Let's take a look at the pros and cons of outdoor training and indoor training, indoors, in the gym or at home.
Why choose to train outdoors?
The most addictive aspect of working out outdoors is that you can have different environments around you each time and enjoy the beauty of nature. Fresh air, sun, light, improve your mood and reduce stress.
For your outdoor workout, you can simply use your body or equipment such as bicycles, skates, skateboards, benches or fitness stations in parks.
However, the downsides of training outdoors are not few. It is not so easy to observe the movements of your body and keep your concentration high if you choose outdoor places particularly frequented by children and families such as parks.
Another important aspect to keep time under control, which can also prove to be a problem. The weather conditions announced by weather bulletins are not always true and cannot be controlled. You may find yourself having to train in the rain, or end up exercising in the middle of a thunderstorm with lightning, hail and wind.
Just as the cold, more or less extreme, and the ice on the ground can become an important obstacle for outdoor training, heat can also be a problem. If you don't take the right precautions you can get heat strokes and dehydration!
Another aspect not to forget, especially if you are alone, is safety. It is advisable not to go to training in bad neighborhoods in the city or in very isolated places in nature, also because, in case of injury, you could run the risk of being stuck without help for hours and hours.
Another disadvantage of outdoor training, important though trivial, is the presence of toilets. If you need a toilet, you may not necessarily find one nearby.
Why choose to work out in the gym? In a gym you can have all the equipment you can get. You can choose to take group courses or train in the equipment room and perform specific training for your body using the figure of professionals in the field.
Socializing is very simple and, in indoor facilities such as fitness clubs, you have all the services you may need: toilets, showers, rest and refreshment areas, changing rooms.
The climate and outdoor temperatures are not a problem, because you are indoors, protected from rain, lightning, heat, ice, etc. ... In addition, you are safe from attackers, because personal trainers are always present in the gym.
Although working out in the gym has many advantages, the distance of the gym from home or work is often the biggest disadvantage. Traffic and the lack of private or public transport to reach the facility quickly affect the choice.
The cost of the subscription, which is not always accessible to everyone, is another variable. While the fear of being judged and moving among too many people who, even inadvertently, observe those who train can in some cases discourage them.
Why choose to train at home? At home you can choose and equip your fitness space according to your physical, economic and space requirements. Train as you want and when you want, alone or in the company of whom you choose.
You can plan and set your own training goals or follow an online coach, download a fitness app or call home personal training figures.
You don't have to move, you don't have to worry about weather conditions, you can have all the comforts of home.
There are a few disadvantages of training at home. At home you usually train alone, so it is not possible, except in specific cases, to socialize with new people or share your improvements with fitness enthusiasts and instructors.
Training at home alone, without certain goals, can be boring and discouraging. At home, you are more exposed to distractions and more willing to postpone your home fitness session for simple, mundane excuses. Then there's the question of environmental safety: don't underestimate the position of your equipment at home, make sure it's always secure and stable!
Wherever you decide to train, your physique will benefit a lot from training and you will immediately feel in a good mood and full of energy. Where would you and your language exchange friends prefer to train? Are you lazy or athletic? Let us know in the comments!
